I have pictures of computer systems I've owned in my computer gallery.

Linux

Linux is a completely free, full featured operating system. I began learning about Linux early in 1998 with Slackware, and have used just about every major distribution. The major communities in the Linux world revolve around Debian / Ubuntu, Fedora / Redhat, SUSE, Slackware, and Gentoo.

If you're just getting into Linux, Ubuntu is a very friendly distribution to start with for desktop users. However, Slackware is more accessible for people who want to tinker around under the hood.

Articles

Also, as a former member of the now defunct Appalachian Linux Users Group, I contributed to some articles that might interest you. They are linked to on the left of this page. I have moved these articles from the ALUG wiki back to my site, since the club is no longer active.

Additional articles and presentations are in the programming section.
